performance issues resolved

Wayne Lawson - Saturday, May 18, 2013

As with any new and fresh application we have encountered plenty of technical resistance from the server and FTP higher beings over the last 4 days.

First we battled with the great divide that we call Earth. Yes our internet speeds have come a long way, but when a file needs to travel half way around the world to our servers, we found the results ... well less than pleasing.

So we rolled up our sleeves and found a solution, and we have implemented an awesome fix that has us running smoothly again so that we can concentrate on our next improvements.

Our thanks go to our UK and Australian BC Partners for their feedback and persistance, namely Selling Online UK, Bosweb and CIMarketing. Thanks guys

dropbox added to bc backup

Wayne Lawson - Wednesday, May 15, 2013

bc backup has added the ability to link a dropbox account to your backup account, meaning that every backup is stored in your Dropbox account, not on the server.

Some reasons why this is awesome:

You control the diskspace used by your backups

We don't count any backups that are sent to dropbox in our overall total of diskpace used by you. This a win-win for everyone. You don't have to upgrade your bc backup account and we are not going to have to build a server the size of Googles datacenter.

You can share your backup folders

By backing up to Dropbox you are creating the ability to share the backup files with your clients. Good new / Bad news, well we suppose it depends on the client!

But the client will have access to images, PDFs, and their product catalogue should the inadvertently make an unscheduled improvement to their website!

bc backup launched

Wayne Lawson - Monday, May 06, 2013

bc backup is the worlds first Business Catalyst backup system delivering peace of mind to all BC Partners around the world for just AUD$25 a month or AUD$300 a year.

bc backup will automatically backup all of the files that can be downloaded via SFTP to one secure location. So you can setup your accounts, provide the details (securely ... we encrypt all passwords) and sit back knowing that your Business Catalyst websites are being backed up in the event of some sort of disaster.

We did the math. If you have 50 BC websites, and you backup every one of these once a week, it would take you at least 250 minutes (if you are lucky). So if only 1 minute of each backup requires you to be present that is still means that you are wasting 1 hour a week on backing up.

What price do you put on your time?
